New Music Therapy Groups

“Everyone is Special”  Saturdays, starting January 20th at 10:00am
  • Focuses on children, with and without specific special needs, working toward developmental goals.
  • Goals can include, but not limited to: Speech, Language/Communication, Gross and Fine Motor Abilities, Peer Socialization, Cognitive Processes, and Self-Expression.
  • Goals will be achieved through various therapeutic music-based exercises, using a wide variety of musical instruments that the group participants will play and explore. 
  • All groups are lead with the guidance of the therapist.
“Early Start with Music” Saturdays, starting January 20th at 11:30am
  • Focuses on the early childhood development using therapeutic music-based exercises to help the child grow physically and cognitively.
  • Goals can include but not limited to: Speech, Language/Communication, Gross and Fine Motor Abilities, Peer Socialization, Cognitive Processes, and Self-expression
  • All groups are lead with the guidance of the therapist.
“Talk, Sing, Teen” Saturdays, starting January 20th at 2:30pm
  • Focuses on providing teens a safe place to express themselves and engage in therapeutic music-based exercises to help them achieve personal, non-musical goals.
  • Goals can include, but not limited to: Peer Socialization, Self-Expression, Socio-emotional Processing, Coping Abilities, Explore Inner Creativity
  • Goals will be achieved through individual and group music, via songwriting, instrumental and/or vocal musical performance, and sharing musical preferences and ideas with peers.
“Use it with Music so you don’t Lose it”  Saturdays, starting January 20th at 4:00pm
  • Focuses on Older Adults with the goal of maintaining or improving quality of life.
  • Ambulatory and non-ambulatory clients are all welcome and can all fully participate in the group. Clients with neurodegenerative disease (including, but not limited to Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, TBI, Stroke survivors, Huntington’s disease, and MS).
  • Goals can include but not limited to: Speech, Expressive and Receptive Language Processes, Gross and Fine Motor Abilities, Peer Socialization, Cognitive Processes (including long-term/short-term memory, attention abilities, executive function abilities), Self-Expression, Functional Physical Exercises for physical health and wellness.
  • Goals will be achieved through a wide variety of therapeutic music-based exercises, utilizing a plethora of musical instruments led by the music therapist.
