Lydia Abrams is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who obtained her Master of Social Work degree from Florida International University and her Bachelor of Social Work from the University of South Florida.
For the past twenty years, Lydia has worked in a variety of settings to help children, adolescents, teens, adults and seniors. Her experiences include: psychotherapist, school counselor, Clinical Director for a non-profit social services setting, case manager and counselor to survivors of domestic violence, school and home-based interventionist for behavior concerns, and counselor and advocate for individuals with special needs, disabilities, and HIV/AIDS.
Lydia is proud to be part of the ProTherapyPlus team. She specializes in working with individuals with special needs, women’s issues, parenting, depression, anxiety, grief, and enhancing healthy relationships. As a clinical social worker, Lydia strongly believes in a client-centered approach. Lydia uses therapeutic techniques such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness-based therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and empowers her clients to build on their strengths. Lydia is also a Qualified Supervisor for Master Level Social Workers seeking licensure.
Lydia has a published article titled “Parenting a Child with Special Needs: Understanding and Addressing the Emotional Dynamics” in The Caregiver Helpbook: Powerful Tools for Caregivers.
