Before Kada received her Master’s degree, she has worked in several community settings. She has worked in two different shelters dedicated to helping women, men, and children who have escaped an abusive situation. She has also had experience volunteering for a rape crisis line, often reporting to the hospital to provide support for the survivor of this type of trauma. Kada also has experience working at a Child Advocacy Center, working with children who have experienced severe trauma through abuse and neglect. It is when working here that Kada fell in love with utilizing child-centered play therapy with children.

Kada believes that children have everything they need within them to be successful. They just sometimes need a little help tapping into it. Kada loves using play therapy because she believes that play is how children best communicate what they can’t cognitively tap into due to their developmental level. Kada believes that children’s language is play and toys are the words. Kada has also had some experience working with adolescents and adults. She believes incorporating the family into the therapeutic process is essential for growth and change and she recognizes the vital, integrative role that the family plays where working with children and adolescents. She takes a collaborative approach incorporating family and school systems as needed to best serve her client. When working with adolescents and adults, Kada utilizes a person-centered, holistic, and strengths-based approach because she believes the client is the best expert on their own lives.

Kada has experience working with children ages 3 – 12, adolescents, and families. She has extensive knowledge in trauma, abuse/neglect, sexual assault, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Kada has also worked with anxiety, depression, anger/aggression, conduct and behavior issues within the home and at school, self-esteem, attachment issues, and emotional self-regulation issues.
