About Catherine Cooper, LMHC
Catherine is a licensed mental health counselor who obtained a Masters in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling with a Certification in Marriage and Family Counseling from the University of South Florida. She specializes in trauma and has experience working in individual counseling, couples counseling, family therapy and substance use.
Throughout her counseling career she has worked with veterans, individuals in the criminal justice system, adolescents and complex families. Catherine has the capacity to work with a vast array of mental health concerns resulting from her experience at the department of Veteran Affairs, forensic mental health diversion program, and disadvantaged youth transitioning into adulthood.
Catherine has experience working with clients grappling with trauma related symptoms, a history of abuse and neglect, self-harm, symptoms of anxiety and depression, substance use, anger management and emotional regulation. She has experience assisting families and couples that are challenged by family dynamics, conflict resolution, communication, PTSD and other mental health concerns.
Catherine believes that her position as a therapist is to guide clients in establishing realistic goals, challenge unhelpful thinking patterns that are blocking personal growth and assist clients in moving through difficult experiences that have been impeding self-empowerment.
